[whistles sweetly and nuzzles his cheek before kissing him softly.]

[seems like the vaguely canine whiny noises were just from Randy being Randy, judging by the incoherent grumble right before he returns that kiss.]

Let me show you our nest.

It is not far.

[Moon kisses him again as if to apologize for not lingering the entire night on the balcony. but it’s only a little further along the terrace before they come to another row of wide-open windows. why use a hallway and doors? all of moon’s private quarters share this balcony.]

[there's no lights lit inside, but the big windows fill it with moonlight. most of the room is taken up by a round depression in the middle of the floor— a dragon-sized nest. it's ringed by a low, ornately-carved wooden screen and lined with fresh rush mats.

there's also a second, more human-sized nest. this one, like a giant wooden bowl, is carved in the same style as the other's screen, but it's scuffed and worn, and there's eight-legged scratchmarks scrabbling up the sides in more than one spot. it's filled with patchwork silk cushions, there's a forgotten robe buried among the quilts, and there's an empty mug hooked on one of the carvings.

besides the nests, there's a desk covered in knick-knacks and a dining table covered in paperwork. windchimes and light-catchers hang from the ceiling overhead. a few doors lead off to other spaces.

Moon is skipping the balcony door and climbing in through one of the windows.]

Come in, come in.

[crimeson]

[chuckles and climbs in the window after him, who needs DOORS.]

Big nest lil nest, huh?

[eying those scratchmarks, that's the sex nest huh,]

[scratchmarks can have innocent reasons! it’s a multi-purpose nest…!]

I have a big size and a lil size, so.

[crimeson]

[yes but it's also Randy.]

"Lil", huh.

[shoulderbunp, then striding forward for a closer look.]

Simply petite.

[chitters and follows, tidying as he goes. the robe gets pulled out and tossed towards one of the doors, a dressing room probably. the mug is moved to a guilty stack of empty tea bowls on the table.

most of the cushions and blankets are quilted. he’s the Lord of Lords, but this is his personal nest in his private wing, he doesn’t need to show off. instead of lavish sheets or handsome brocade, he has patchwork scraps from his and household’s old clothes.]

[slipping into... the big nest, and starfishing happily]

What does that make me, big guy?

[the rush mats are comfortably firm, meant to cushion a dragon’s weight instead of a human’s, and they put off a nice grassy scent.

moon sits down next to him and bends over to kiss his forehead]

It makes you dainty.

[crimeson]

Dainty.

[it's a scoff, with a laugh, but some part of him seems just a little awed by it, and he's reaching to tug Moon down with him fully.]

[trills laughter and lets himself be pulled down, cozying up against Randy's side.]

Exquisitely so.

[crimeson]

Can't say as I've been called that one before.

[snuggling up]

I could admire your muscles instead. I like those too.

[nuzzles shamelessly, relishing the addition of randy's warmth to all familiar scents and sounds of home]

Tomorrow you can pick a room for your own, if you want, but let me keep you here tonight.

[of course he hopes randy will share his nest more often than not, but everyone should have a private space! moon flicks his tail, gesturing towards some of the doors leading off his room. they were built as consort chambers or playrooms for hatchlings, but one is blocked by a bookcase and another is crowded by potted plants... moon hasn't had to use the rooms in a while]

I'm not in a rush to get away from you, darlin'.

[soft-voiced, tipping his head to follow the gesture, then just rolling onto him.]

[wraps his arms around him and rumbles softly /// squished]

I cannot beg all your time. Nor do I have to be so precious with it... We have more than nights or hours together now, we will have years.

It's cute if you monopolize me for a while, though, you know?

[croons throatily and tangles his claws in randy’s hair, wrapping his arms around his shoulders. can do, will do, doing!]

[yessss, yes good, shifting so he's straddling him, legs hitched over his lowest pair of arms, just kissing the hell out of his Moon]

[nevermind crooning, he moans, arching up under him. they both know moon could roll them easily, just sit up and scoop randy up on those arms, but he won't. there's no thought except to hold onto his mate until they're both breathless.]
